As I understand it, you are pretty much correct about the need for precise placement. For any given observation the correlator needs to know exactly where each dish is. Part of the calibration procedure takes care of this. I think (but am not sure) that they look at a known signal, use that for calibration, and then look at the target. The precision necessary is going to be a function of the wavelength being observed (mm and sub-mm in this case). But I don't know exactly what that function is.

I dunno. He IS probably the best basketball player ever, but what about people like Wilt Chamberlain who did acts equally as legendary (The 100 point game, the 50 point average season, dunking from the free throw line during free throws until they changed the rules...). That, and I don't like the thought of the NBA itself saying that this player is better than all of the others. I think that would be insulting to other greats like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Clyde Drexler.?

Only slaps us in the face with the reality that hunger is an ECONOMIC issue. We already produce more food than we eat, and we can produce more than we do. Some of this will solve itself as the economy restructures. In either case, it needs to be seen for what it is, economics, not hunger in isolation.
