yea he lost me after claiming it was better not to get the swine flu vaccine. I never did ( because i never cared to or needed it) but his idea about the vaccine was ridiculous. And also after finding out about his PETA affiliation, even though he is doing it for the money which is fine, but still a PETA nut.

When the fetus can live outside its host's body unassisted, it's a human.Until then, it's a parasite. Sorry, I'm not trying to be offensive here. But by strict definition, that's what it is. And in my reality science trumps theology.

I actually had a bit of problem with Asus a few months ago. Sorry if it's a long (and bitter) story.I have a G1S notebook from them, and after a bit over a year and a half of fine performance, it one day just would not start up properly. I could hear the fan going, and a little sound fx, but the screen would not show anything. After talking to tech support, they sent me a FedEx slip to send it in for repair (free shipping was nice), estimating it would take 10 business days. This sucked that I was going to be w/out it since I use it for work, but I had no other option. They thought it was either a problem with the motherboard or graphics card.So I sent it in, and a week later called to get an update on if it'd been diagnosed (or even received, for that matter), and it turned out that the GPU overheated and would be replaced. However, since it's soldered onto the motherboard, that would need to be replaced too.....and my model was on a 10 week back order. They weren't going to let me know about this delay, so I wouldn't have found out until I called in. Also, it turns out that the overheating was caused by the card being defective, and NVIDIA was releasing driver updates that UNDER-clocked it to help prevent this. This NVIDIA problem was discovered by users (because of the underclocking) about 9 months before mine overheated, so it's not like they shouldn't have been prepared. And a quick search of Asus's message board showed that lots of people were suddenly having this problem and were sending their computers in for repair. Now, the responsible thing for them to do would be recall the computers, ramp up production on motherboards, and alert customers so they could send in their computers at convenient times around their schedules. But instead they did the bare minimum as required by the warranty, which for some customers had probably run out. As a result, I ended up having to buy a new computer to use since like I said I needed it for work, and they could not guarantee that it would ever be fixed, nor was a 2 and a half month estimate bad enough for them to just give me a new computer to replace the broken one.Now technically this was a problem caused by NVIDIA, but Asus did nothing to help. They didn't alert owners to the possible problem, didn't prepare for the surge in repairs by stocking up on parts, and didn't tell me when they'd diagnosed the problem that it would take so long (which was complicated by the fact that I was moving during this period).Bottom line: I'd probably not buy another Asus anytime soon. They showed no respect for the idea that perhaps their customers who invested money in a high-end computer might actually need it, and can't just drop the most important tool in an office for a few months because they ran out of motherboards (which is a little ironic since that's the computer part they're most known for making). That they wouldn't even call or e-mail me to let me know honestly what the problem was, and when it would be fixed, added insult to injury. Terribly mishandled, and I know I wasn't the only one.
