It's a shame that you can't trust the WSJ like you used to. They used to have a great reputation.....before Murdoch got his stinkin' paws all over it.
42.7% of the time.

“Nereid, you've not earned enough of my own respect for me to spend any time as your research assistant. You will not find truth with the burn-the-heretic approach observable in places like the Bad Astronomy and Universe Today forum; you will only alienate those with whom you communicate, and hopefully you don't talk to people you meet in the real world like this. Were I to even go to the theorists by now and explain to them that you wanted to know these things, most of them would tell me to ignore you and all of the other pseudo-skeptics. People who reserve all of their skepticism for against-the-mainstream ideas should be left alone to believe what they are so hell-bent on believing. The scientific term is called "motivated reasoning". It's not how science should be done. Science is about building relationships, keeping an open mind, reading as much as you can about the various theories, and waiting until you've actually learned a theory to compare and contrast it with those you already understand. You've not done any of this. Your approach lacks sufficient merit to yield any results, and by bringing me in as your research assistant, you just mire me in your own poo.Once again, I will ask you: Why is it that you do not directly ask Anthony Peratt or Wal Thornhill yourself? I'll help you out: It's because your purpose is to shut people up. You don't care about learning the other theory. You guys have already been sufficiently hostile to the principal scientists that they no longer want anything to do with you. Now, it's really just me, and your goal now is to convince others that they should not pay attention to me. Part of my purpose here has been to just get you to go onto the record. People are going to want to know in 25 or 50 years from now why it was that it took so long for people to realize that laboratory plasmas are like cosmic plasmas. And we'll have this wonderful record to refer to. People will demonstrate through example which you have set. After all, the BAUT can't be trusted to preserve anything which casts them in a poor light. But don't get too caught up into thinking that the EU will never penetrate public awareness beyond the Internet. Talbott's latest video ups the stakes for you guys. I highly recommend that you watch the first (of three) installments, which is now complete ("Symbols of an Alien Sky"). That will give you a good feel for the strength of the mythological evidence -- which I'm quite sure you know nothing about at this point.

Thats ok most diggers don't either. Try a blowup sheep, then a blowup doll, and work your way up to humans. With some hard work and a little luck, you'll get there.

Supplying a two-way sync extension for Songbird wouldn't be such a huge undertaking, and a transition to Songbird from iTunes is pretty pleasant these days. Then they'd even be supporting Linux, too.Of course, you'd still have to convince average consumers to actually consider trying something new, and help them understand that you can buy music without the iTunes Store. |
