| I used to operate a Nuclear Reactor (directly control), at the Hanford Nuclear Reservationto produce plutonium for the DOE.It was a graphite moderated type, as was the Chernobyl reactor. When Chernobyl went up, we went down. While there are all kinds of new reactor designs on paper, The first thing I noticed in the article was the mention of it's use of helium as a coolant. We are running out of helium, there is only one source of helium which used to be controlled by the Government; as the WWII production reactors used helium as an inert atmosphere within the reactor, not as a coolant. It wouldn't be wise to rely upon a limited supply of helium as a coolant for a reactor, in any long term investment.Google: helium shortage - first hit (Wired) is a good one.The Pebble bed reactor as mentioned at the beginning of this thread is the most likely design to be produced in the U.S. (China is already constructing them), and can use other gases as a coolant.FWIW: google earth:46°41'00.62" N, 119°30'12.00" W (all one line, and search)You need to zoom out of course, but that's the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, the first Grey site in the lower left is B-Reactor the first production reactor ever built. and now a historic site. I operated the third one up on the left, N-Reactor. These are old pictures as all but B reactor have been disassembled, the reactors themselves being entombed, or buried. As for sent fuel elements, they are still stored there. There was one plan of creating a religion, it's purpose - to pass on to future generations not to dig in the area for 10,000 years (Honest). |

I don't have any 64-bit Windows, but one of my friends was bitching about flash not working in IE 8. He had to install 32-bit Firefox and 32-bit Flash to get flash-based web sites to work.64-bit Windows has been around for a long time, and Adobe is very tardy on its release!
So wait, that free credit report I was offered somewhere from FreeCreditReport.com was not exactly free??

“It's funny because the monologue at the beginning about their 'day' is HILARIOUS, but EVEN IT is a sideshow to the horsery that comes after.

Enlightenment, if your friend had a Windows 64-bit system, he could have used the 32-bit version of IE rather than install 32-bit Firefox. The 32-bit version of IE is actually the default version available through the Windows Start Menu and if there's an IE icon set up on the desktop. You have to go and pick out the 64-bit version of IE specifically to use it. Adobe is very tardy on this issue, but at the same time the majority of Windows 64-bit users continue to use 32-bit IE or Firefox, so unfortunately it hasn't been a priority for Adobe..
stop masturbating with that bugspray honey.!

Farmer Ted...say it ain't so!?
I've heard some people say that Glen Beck was involved somehow. Not that I believe them; but shouldn't someone be asking the questions? |

I can fix a Mac. I can diagnose and replace broken parts, upgrade hard drives, optical drives, or ram, replace broken cables and replace PowerBook screens - anything you can fix on your 486. Just like I can fix my home brew AMD 64. Macs are computers - they can be fixed by ANY competent tech.

Damn, what's up with Digg? Normally on a Jon Stewart article there's only a few Republicans/Libertartians angry at Jon Stewart and they're all buried to oblivion. In this one pretty much everything is anti-Stewart/Biden.EDIT: Nevermind, it seems they're all getting buried now. Digg's back to normal. |
