“The smile for Molson Canadian says, "This is alright. It's not terrible, so I'm happy, but it's not amazing, so I'm not going to smile too much." Truth in advertising, I guess.

His new album is garbage. I only kept one song, Crossroads, and I think the only reason that sounded decent was because the rest were so terrible. I want to hear the Blues and Rock and Roll from him; until then he is just a waste of talent..
So the obvious question would be whether or not they removed any factors of correlation between uninsured and higher trauma(or insured coming in with lesser trauma). I saw in the method section that they mention injury level, but I didn't see any consideration for normalizing the results for injury level for insured vs uninsured. It would definitely invalidate the implied conclusion that the insurance itself is the causal factor if uninsured people had a higher tendency to come with greater injuries vs insured.Insured individuals would be more likely to visit the ER for minor injuries since it costs them little, while uninsured would handle more trivial things themselves. Thus, this would definitely bias the survival rate for that group by padding the 'safe' visits for the insured. Only half a week ago, a friend of mine had a bad bicycle accident that messed up the side of her face and cut the inside of her lip badly. She would have lived without going to the ER, but because group health had a program for uninsured under a certain salary, she decided to go. She got 4 stitches and an xray of her shoulder which turned out to be fine. So insurance itself(or simply not having to pay in this case) can increase the frequency of visits to the ER for less severe injuries.Again, I couldn't see that they accounted for this in their method. It talks about the ISS algorithm but I'm not familiar with it's details so take this point with a grain of salt.!

yeah, it's a common misconception in US that any imported beer is a "good" beer because it's more expensive than their domestic contemporaries. clearly the best beer any where is going to be from a local craft brewery, can't beat fresh.?

They are creating artificial disutility which gives people the wrong incentives. Were things priced rationally, without fraud or other forms of violence, people would make more informed decisions based on the sum of our subjective values. Violence never achieves the best solution to economic issues. It can only create malinvestment.

They are. Especially wild ones that you take out of their "spot". I wouldn't really call what they have a nest as they move from spot to spot frequently.

The reality is that American financial regulation sucks ass. The SEC and Wall Street have a revolving door of employment - you work on wall st, then you work as a regulator for the SEC, then back to wall st, and so on.No American regulator will ever slap down a wall st firm - because it will hurt their future employment, when the next administration comes to power, and they leave the SEC and go back to Wall St.Do you Geithner is going to regulate Wall St? Why would he do that? He knows Obama won't be in power for ever - he will eventually be seeking a job on wall st again - he would have to work against his own future interests if he were to really regulate Wall St.The SEC in America is a sham governmental organization. |
