Do you REALLY think there are so many high-weight low bodyfat elite bodybuilder physiques around that it changes the percentages? Have you been to a public space lately? When was the last time you walked through a mall or into a restaurant and saw a bunch of buff people, say, as many as one for every 20 grossly overweight people? Yes, BMI can misidentify the exceedingly rare bodybuilder. No, there aren't enough that it makes BMI an invalid indicator of fatness for populations.

Why do we think we can win these types of wars? If you don't have the peoples support that you are occupying you must brutally put down any uprising. I don't think we are willing to do this or should we do this. All I see is that we go from village to village, some old man lies to us but there is nothing we can do, so we drive to the next village while hopefully while not getting blowup by some IED while getting there and repeat the same stupid process. Bin Laden is not even around these area or hell we are not even 100% sure if he is still alive. Why are we wasting lives over there when there is no clear attainable goal?

But tragically, isn't our military spending one of the few industries we are actually exporting? What else do we even make anymore?I saw a commercial recently that pretty much sums it up. Some redneck guy gets this idea that he doesn't want imports in his house anymore, so he starts moving them out. His whole house is empty except his mother's chair, so he moves it with her and her knitting out to the lawn with everything else. Then, he sees his rifle on the wall, and surprise, surprise; it's actually the only thing made in the U.S.A..I'm far from a fan of guns or the military-industrial-complex, but ironically, it seems it's the only thing keeping food in our mouths nowadays. When are we going to own and make our own windmills and solar panels and not sell our companies off to the Chinese? |
