"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything." Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Charleston, Illinois, September 18, 1858That is but one of many Lincoln quotes.

“Some singles contain B-sides and live tracks that aren't on the album. At least, if the record company is smart they do. People buy 4 of the same DVD when they release them in different colours.

I'm in computer science, and I would rather stop using computers altogether than be subjected to such intrusive advertisements. Yet another reason I prefer Linux..
As new generations of internet junkies are bred and born, the meme goes on and on and on and on and on!

The average American is consuming about twice as much protein as their body requires or can even use-- not to mention the correlated excess in fat consumption. Anyway, farming meat requires much more in the way of land and resources than farming plants. If we're really trying to solve food shortage problems, animal agriculture's not the answer.

One year and going strong... and at one point he got the most diggs I've ever seen (over 1900) for a single comment. And this is the first I've heard of this. And penguins have a gland above their eyes that filters salt out of seawater.

In an ideal world — No. In an ideal world, taxpayers should be able to say what their tax money may or may not pay for.The fact is, when our taxes go into the mailbox and are received by the various tax collection offices, we lose our say as to how those tax dollars are spent. I wasn't happy that my tax dollars went to pay for Bush's war of choice, and many other things that I didn't approve of, before that. I'm furious that my tax dollars go into the coffers of the CIA and allow them to do things like crucify old men overseas. I don't approve of that. I don't approve of children being raped in front of their parents.Don't like the way your tax dollars are being spent? For most people, tax protests aren't an option. Changing the tax laws are ALWAYS an option. It's our government, it takes the shape We The People wish it to be. CHANGE THE LAW TO ALLOW TAXPAYERS TO CHOOSE WHAT THEIR TAXES FUND. Until that happens — grit your teeth, hold your nose and pay up. Or choose the option leading to jail and wage garnishment. |
