Why would I want to project a movie/whatever onto a piece of paper and have to worry about ambient light? Why would I want other people to see the photos/whatever I am projecting onto a wall? It seems to me like some kind of glasses which overlay this stuff onto our vision without actually projecting it is what we want.

I didn't mean it wouldn't work because there's too much source material, rather that the source material would be hard to adapt to the screen, both from a logistical standpoint and from a storytelling standpoint.
