It's like listening to the sounds of the ocean..
It's a combination of wind and ice flows. The waters can move quite rapidly from the severe wind alone, and ice often forms on top of the flow. The combination is enough to push the rocks around, even quite big ones. There's also conditions where the wind can form boundary layer effects as low as 2 inches from the ground, where the wind below the layer can be moving up to 100 mph there, but not above there. For little rocks, how this works is obvious, but for big rocks, the combination of these two can be enough to start them moving. Gale force winds on the base, ice pushing along the top... voila. And once they're moving, the force needed to keep them moving halves (starting friction is much higher), meaning that they suddenly can move quite rapidly, sliding along the wet playa. Just ideal conditions creating unusual effects.!

<3 Scabbia?
***** Omar bin Laden. He is selling books and gaining fame based on his father's name - a name soaked in blood.Maybe Dylan Klebold's mother should write a juicy tell all - profit from the blood soaked into her son's name.No matter how Omar slices it - he is selling books because he is related to a murder -and that is precisely that angle he is working to sell those books. Profitting from the blood spilled by his father. |

You're an idiot. The LDS religion has never condoned rape and kidnapping. Regardless of historic doctrines concerning polygamy, none of the LDS leaders could or would consider anything that Mitchell did as being "doctrinal", more like "abominable". Furthermore, the whole premise of continuing revelation through latter-day prophets facilitates the evolution of doctrine as times change. Therefore you can't be a true fundamentalist in such a system because that would mean rejecting the counsel of a current prophet's guidance in favor of a past prophet whose counsel may no longer apply. As an outsider you may not subscribe to it, but technically speaking this makes for the argument that there's no such thing as a "Mormon Fundamentalist". People labelled as such are rather those who have lost their faith in latter-day prophecy in favor of their own vain beliefs. |
