People need to realize that the media market (particularly online) is changing. This article seems to be stuck on an opinion that 'social news' has to be composed entirely of proper, suit-and-tie individuals who have business degrees and no personality. It seems very clear that diggnation garnered dissaproval here, and the 'fanboys' were viewed as more of an annoyance than a customer base. This seems especially imbecilic considering the online presence of said 'fanboys' over the typical, web-challenged internet user. I do look forward to seeing digg's new changes...we will see if that aids the variance between the two faces of digg (and helps make it more accessible in the process)..
Stay classy, Minneapolis.!

They really don't gather any moss.?
No, do you not know what they do all the time?? They drink more than the homeless guy who begs for change on the street corner.I am not hoping they die, I am just saying that one of them possibly will get alcohol poisoning and I wonder which one will get it first? |

To all of you saying that price is determined by supply vs demand and is thus not applicable to digital media: You're not thinking this through. The price of any commodity is determined solely by how much people are willing to pay for it. Obviously scarcity value plays a massive role in the equation, but DeBeers can't charge $1,000,000,000,000 per diamond even though they do have a throttle on the market - because people simply won't pay it.Correspondingly, you *could* in theory make a profit by selling music at $0.05 per song, since you have practically zero distribution costs compared to selling physical CDs. But, since many people are willing to pay twenty times as much, these companies will charge twenty times as much and pocket the difference. There is such a thing as an optimal price point: more people buy Song X if it's cheaper, but you can conceivably make more money by boosting its price and getting fewer downloads - *if* the price increase is sufficient to offset the loss due to decreased sales. It's a ridiculously simple equation - we did this sort of stuff in 6th grade. The trick is finding that optimal balance, which is what the industry is doing right now. It might actually be in their best interests to jack up the price to the point where fewer people buy the song, but those who *do* buy it end up paying more.
