Yes, but that was hundreds of years ago. It really doesn't matter. If it weren't for Western, Japanese ,Korean and Taiwanese capital investments in China, their would be very little of value that comes out of China. Almost every electronic good is manufactured for a company not based in China.One of the few reasons for China's economic success , and it is a huge one, is their extremely low cost of manufacture. That's why the Chicom govt. wants to peg the RMB to the dollar. But with renewed pressure from the WTO, IMF, and other developing nations to let their currency float like other countries, that advantage may be gone. And with it all those jobs.And their economy.

Exactly. The attitude of most WSJ writers is very professional. It is true that it has an extreme conservative and free market tilt but they are up front about it.What I don't see on the WSJ is a lot of name calling (wingnuts, tea-baggers, etc.) and whining. Most of the articles offer constructive criticism for Obama and other politicians the writers disagree with.Unfortunately some WSJ commenters are not as civil and resort to the name calling just like their liberal counterparts..

Are you sure you're only getting 1.6 Mega bits per second down and not 1.6 Mega Bytes Per Second down? Because 1.6MBps would be just shy of 16Mbps...Note the difference in Mbps and MBps - most applications measure your throughput in bytes per second, whereas ISP's advertise their speeds in bits per second. 8 bits to a byte....It's a common confusion. For example: 16Mbits would be the equivalent of 2MBytes.
